polartec-fusible-fleece-lining
Polartec Fusible Fleece Lining

Fusible Fleece...oh the possibilities!

We have never seen this Polartec fusible fleece before, and may never see it again. It appears to be from a custom military order. While we don't know how they used it, we can guess at some of the things it could be used for...but you can likely imagine many others!

We have tried fusing it to a Polartec breathable shell fabric with good results. It should be fused to the wrong side of your main fabric, ironing from the main fabric side, not from the fleece side. We covered the main fabric with a cotton towel and used a fairly hot iron, taking our time to press each area well. We washed the sample, and hung to dry. While we do not have any long-term usage results, it was unaffected by the first wash.

NOTE: We cannot guarantee results on your fabrics...you will need to test on scraps to determine the best way to apply it.

The fleece is a 300 weight which means that it will add significant warmth to a garment when used as lining. The fleece is bonded to a fusible interfacing, both have slight stretch. But, its important to understand that stretching the fleece prior to fusing it to the main fabric will cause the fusible layer to slightly crack. So, we recommend that you do not stretch it before applying.

The fabric itself appears to be Flame Resist. (likely a military requirement) When we tried to light it on fire, it self-extinguished. We know very little about this fabric, so we are simply stating our unscientific findings, please do your own testing if necessary.

The only fusible fleece we could find online was nothing like this. Those are more like a thicker interfacing, and require to be sandwiched between 2 other fabrics. Polartec fusible fleece fabric is finished on one side, so could be worn as the lining of a jacket, vest, hats or warm pants. We believe the outer (main) fabric choices are endless...anything from cotton, durable stretch woven or supplex, or a technical waterproof shell such as Neoshell, Gore-Tex, Power Shield Pro, or Windbloc.

Other suggested uses:

Quilt backs or batting substitution

Bag making for stablizing areas without quilting

Inside backpacks, padding for Ipad or tablet

Crafts such as placemats, stockings etc.

As we know so little about the fabric, we have it on introductory sale for a very low price!

This fabric (like others made by Polartec) are made in the USA and not subject to tariff when shipped back to customers in the US.

WATCH VIDEO
