Polartec Windpro Stretch with Hardface Finish

Polartec^® Hardface^® is a patented polymer surface treatment applied to enhance durability.

What is Windpro?

Polartec Wind Pro Stretch is a water-repellent fleece fabric with a compact knit structure that provides up to 4x greater wind resistance than standard fleece. This is perfect for most outdoor activities and provides added warmth over non wind-repellent fabrics, but does not make the fabric completely windproof.  That usually requires fabric with a membrane.

This is what Polartec says about Windpro.  Polartec^® Wind Pro^® is an advanced fleece developed to resist more than just the cold.

While still air permeable, a tighter knit construction reduces the amount of wind chill. A durable water repellent outer surface withstands moisture and rain while retaining breathability and comfort. This stronger knit fleece is tough enough to take on the elements.

WindPro Stretch features a smooth water repellent Hardface^® finish, usually with a tone-on-tone pattern (Large Treads or Small Treads most frequently) and a soft dense velour fleece back. The addition of Spandex gives Wind Pro Stretch the ability to stretch and move with the wearer during activity while providing good shape recovery. Style 1302 Sherpa Wind Pro Stretch has a shearling fleece back and minimal stretch.  Great for jackets and loose hoodies, but not for leggings.

Style 9591 is a lighter weight, with greater stretch and a bit less wind repellency. A great choice when you want the durability of the Hardface water repellent finish, but not as much warmth. For example, spring leggings for cycling or riding.

The most popular style is 9509 as it has sufficient stretch for leggings or fitted jackets and is extremely versatile.
