A Community Sewing Challenge!

Welcome to our inaugural Sew Inspired by Discovery Fabrics Facebook Group community sewing challenge!  We hope you enjoy being a participate or spectator.  This sewing challenge is designed to celebrate creativity, scraps and of course remnant magic.

Game Overview

Ready, Set, S-E-W! is a multi-round interactive sewing challenge inside the Sew Inspired by Discovery Fabrics Facebook group.

Members:

  • Show off a garment made from a Discovery Fabrics remnant
  • Compete for likes
  • Finalists receive a free remnant
  • Sew a new garment
  • Let the community vote for the final winner

Round 1: “READY” – Remnant Makes Call-Out: March 1 - 14, 2026

Duration: 2 weeks

How to Enter:

Members are asked to:

Share one photo of a finished garment made from a Discovery Fabrics remnant in the comments on the official Ready, Set, S-E-W! Sew Inspired by Discovery Fabrics post.

Optional but encouraged:

  • Fabric name (if known)
  • What they loved or found tricky about sewing remnants

Rules:

  1. One entry per person on official Ready, Set, S-E-W! post only (separate posts will not count as entries)
  2. Must be sewn by the entrant
  3. Discovery Fabrics fabric only
  4. Group members only (keeps it cozy and fair)

How Winners Are Chosen:

We will encourage group members to keep an eye on and "like" your entries on the official Ready, Sew, S-E-W! post between March 1 and 13th. 

On March 13th, we will tally the likes and:

  • The top 5 by Likes + 5 Discovery Fabrics Staff Team Picks will move on to Round 2

Round 2: “SET” – Surprise Remnant Reveal: March 15 - April 14

Duration: 3 weeks 

What Happens:

The 10 selected finalists are sent one free remnant (we will work with selected finalists in selecting the appropriate remnant)

Finalists sew up their final makes

Participant Commitment:

By accepting the remnant, participants agree to: 

  • Share progress photos (cutting, sewing, oops moments welcome!)
  • Post a final reveal of the finished garment on or before April 14, 2026
  • Share at least one short reflection (what they made, how they adapted, what surprised them) 

Round 3: “S-E-W” Final Reveal & Voting: April 15 - 20

Duration: 6 days

Final Submissions:

Each participant posts:

  • 1–3 photos of their finished project.
  • A short description including:
    • Fabric used
    • Pattern (or self-drafted!)
    • What they loved about the challenge

Voting:

Our Sew Inspired by Discovery Fabrics Facebook community votes by liking their favourite finished garment

Grand Prize Winner:

Discovery Fabrics gift card ($100)

Feature post + pinned bragging rights

Runner-Up Prizes:
