What is Power Stretch?

Power Stretch was developed to expand Polartec's base fabric's durability and range of motion during activity. The majority of elastic base materials can stretch during movement, but lack the tensile strength to recover their original shape therefore becoming permanently damaged. By utilizing elastic fibers with enhanced resilience in the stretch construction, Polartec made a performance-fit base fabric that can handle the pressure of demanding physical activities. We offer many different styles and weights of Polartec PowerStretch.  

For convenience, we split the styles into Jersey or Fleece Back (see link below). 

This page features our jersey-style Power Stretch fabrics.  Suitable for lightweight wicking stretch base layers. 

Power Stretch can be used for many garments. For leggings, look for one with a higher weight. You will find styles with HardFace finish (more durability) and styles that are DWR water repellent. But, for the most part the styles are moisture-wicking. The lightest weights make fabulous moisture-wicking underwear.  In fact, we include some styles of Power Stretch in our Panty Packs. Some styles are perfect for cycling or running jerseys. You will notice that we have some fun prints, those are intended for top-weight jerseys.
