To choose the best size we recommend measuring your foot. If you plan on wearing socks in your slippers, measure with your socks on.
Place a blank piece of paper on the floor, against a wall. Place your heel on top of the paper, with heel against the wall. Mark the end of your longest toe on the paper. Then, take a ruler and note the measurement of your foot. Compare this to the chart above and choose a size closest to your foot measurement.
If you have narrow feet, you might find the fit a bit wide, but don’t worry! They are extremely easy to make smaller by simply resewing the sole seams to snug them up. They may also fit big if your fabric is very stretchy. For your first pair we recommend using the size chart, then testing the fit and adjusting, if necessary, rather than guessing how much to size down.
NOTE: The size chart is a guide only, as there are many variables that will affect fit. This
includes thickness and stretch of fabric as well as the shape of individual feet.

Suggested Fabrics

This pattern is suitable for many cozy stretch fleece fabrics and we have sized the pattern for low-moderate stretch, approximately 10-30%, and a 1 cm seam allowance.  When working with a higher stretch option (such as our Polartec Windpro Stretch and Power Stretch Fleeces), you may wish to size-down by one size. The good news is that if they are a bit too large, it’s very easy to make them smaller simply by re-sewing the seams where the sides attach to the sole.  This pattern is a great way to use up some scraps from other projects!  For the largest size you will need two pieces of fleece 17 inches long x 17 inches wide, two strips of non-slip gripping fabric about 6" x 2" each, as well as 50" of FOE (fold over elastic).

If you have all the required bits, yay!  If not, you can purchase a No-Slip Slipper Pack which makes minimum 2 pair, or choose from one of the recommended fabrics below.

Tip:  If your feet get hot and you wish to add a moisture-wicking layer to the sole, we recommend layering either Polartec Power Dry or Power Grid to the wrong side of the sole piece prior to cutting out the sole piece. This can be done with a temporary adhesive spray. Then just cut out the glued sole pieces and treat them as 1 piece.

Alternatively if you want more warmth, add some Polartec Alpha Direct to the inside of the sole in the same method.

Notions for Finishing

This pattern requires Fold Over Elastic for finishing upper edges. https://discoveryfabrics.com/products/fold-over-elastic-foe  (we recommend ¾” or 1” wide)

If you are using a very stretchy fabric and wish to use a stretch thread, we recommend Seraflex Thread.
